HAS SOCIAL MEDIA CHANGED THE PERSPECTIVE OF RELATIONSHIPS / DATING?
In the 70 or 80s heck even the 90s those generations weren’t revolved around social media . A date was dinner and a movie not waiting for a FaceTime call in the middle of the night. “We are Dating” consisted of going out to places and being seen together not texting that one person all day being distracted from reality. Social Media has made relationships lose that close connected bond between two people that aren’t just about an attraction to each other . It has gotten so bad where relationships have come to an end because one partner hasn’t texted back quick enough... Back then , relationships weren’t about making time to text it was about making time to be AROUND one another alone. Building a bond face to face and not through text. When texting you don’t know how a person can be behind closed doors. Im not saying social media shapes relationships but in this generation “dating” is not used in the right terminology. Social media should not have to be the main focus in a relationship. Back then the phrase “ if he doesn’t post you he’s entertaining others” wasn’t even a thing. Society today is so revolved around social media the amount of hate and criticism one can get could effect a couples livelihood dramatically . For example, These “YouTube” couples get large amounts of criticism for what they do and how they say things. With social media you have to be careful about every single word you say otherwise people can impact your mental health depending on how mentally strong you are. Past generations didn’t have to worry about privacy issues. Social media can ruin your relationship if you let it. Don’t bandwagon and become another stereotypical internet couple. Be unique.
